The Los Angeles Lakers select Cameron Carr with the 24th Overall Pick
The Baylor guard joins LA after a trade with the Knicks, giving the Lakers an athletic young piece in the backcourt.
The Los Angeles Lakers have selected Cameron Carr with the 24th overall pick in the 2026 NBA Draft, via trade with the New York Knicks (for the 25th overall pick.)
Carr’s stock soared during the NBA Combine, where the NBA named him one of the 10 players who made a mark at AWS NBA Draft Combine 2026.
We touched on Cameron Carr in our pre-draft coverage for the Charlotte Hornets, when we called out Carr’s elite arm length and agility. He also recorded the 2nd fastest lane agility time in the combine.
This is an ideal pick up for the Lakers, who have been searching for a young, athletic guard for the past few seasons.
Los Angeles drafted Adou Thiero last year with the 36th overall pick. But Thiero was hampered by injuries during much of his rookie season with the Lakers.
The Lakers still have a need for a big man. ESPN’s Dave McMenamin has reported that, “Luka’s first and foremost desire is an A-list center.” So we will see what other moves the Lakers make as we inch toward free agency.
